If you've struggled to find a summer grooming spray that feels gentle, smells great, and doesn’t cost the earth — we’ve been there too. During the 18 months it took us to develop Bug Barrier, we uncovered some things that didn’t sit right with us:
🤯 Many commonly used active substances in traditional fly sprays — such as DEET, Icaridin, and Picaridin — have been tested on animals. As a cruelty-free brand, we knew that wasn’t an option for us.
🤯 The products with a particularly potent combination of synthetic ingredients can rot a plastic sponge. — which made us question how gentle they really are on skin.
🤯 And striking the right balance between oil and water? It's trickier than it sounds — too oily and it risks irritation, too light and it evaporates in seconds.
We think we've created something special — a non-toxic, plant-based grooming spray that horse owners love using in the warmer months, especially when the flies are out in force!
PLUS, with this balm formula, you can also apply it to their sensitive areas with a cloth.
The balm formula tends to be longer lasting than a spray as the lack of water content reduces the chance of evaporation.
